Earn Free Gift Cards with MyPoints

I have been a member of MyPoints since 2006 and have greatly benefited from this online program. I’ve earned enough points for gift cards to places like Red Lobster, Outback Steakhouse, GAP, Target, Walmart and Shell gas stations. I’ve been able to use these gift cards myself and have given them as gifts as well. This is a tremendous program that helps you by rewarding you for things you already do!

Who They Are

MyPoints is the leading rewards program on the internet. They have been around for 10 years and have over 5 million active members – myself being one of them. Essentially, they provide a venue for advertisers to promote their goods and services. In exchange for this venue, advertisers pay MyPoints and they share the wealth by giving “Points” to their active members. These points can be turned in for gift cards from the same advertisers.

How It Works

You simply go to their website www.MyPoints.com and sign up for free. It costs nothing to you to be a member. All you need is an email address and a password, which you will create. There is a one-limit per household stipulation (because the program is so great). Therefore, only one person per home can sign up.

Once you sign up, you will begin receiving emails from MyPoints – up to 5 a day. These emails provide links to their advertisers’ websites. Once you click on the link from the email, you will be directed to the advertiser’s website. This will earn you 5 points. Again, you could possibly get 5 emails a day at 5 points per email. If you do the math, you will see that the points add up very quickly!

Once you have earned enough points, you go to the MyPoints website and go to the “Rewards” tab to claim your gift card. They come in denominations of $5 - $100, depending on the company. The greater the gift card, the more points you will need to claim it.

Other Ways to Earn Points

• Shopping Online – If you already shop online, then you can earn points while you shop! If you login to the MyPoints website and click the “Shop” tab, a list of affiliated sites will appear. Click onto the link of where you would like to shop and once you purchase something from that site, you will earn points as well! Sometimes you can earn a specific number of points or you may receive a certain number of points for each dollar you spend. For example, you could earn a total of 750 from FTD Flowers if you spend $25 or more. And, if you shop at Target.com, you could earn 8 points for every dollar you spend. This is a great way to add even more points to your account by going to MyPoints before you begin shopping online.
• Easy Points – You can earn additional points for signing up for newsletters or filling out insurance quotes. I’m happy with my insurance companies and have had them for a long time, but I love to travel. So, I don’t bother with the insurance stuff, but I’ve signed up for a couple of travel newsletters and have added 25 or more points to my account from that. These have been fun to receive and informative as well.
• Surf the Web – MyPoints has its own search bar that you can download onto your personal computer. By using their search tool, you earn points for every search you make. Again, earning points for something you already do on the web – surf!
• Daily Spin N’ Win Contests – Every month or so, MyPoints has a new contest. This may involve a game or a Spin N’ Win. You just login to the website and go to the contest and follow the directions. Prizes range from 5 – 10,000 points! I have yet to be a 10,000 point winner, but I have earned a few points here and there. This is fun and entertaining and occasionally you may win. So, give it a try.
• Clip Coupons – If you already clip coupons, you will love this! You can print coupons for things you need and when you use these coupons at the grocery store, you receive points. It’s like a double coupon discount! Also, you don’t need to print coupons you don’t use. You can pick and choose between the coupons that are available and print only those you need. For every one you redeem, you receive 10 points.

• Play Games – You can register with MyPoints and receive points for paid games that you play. I’m not much of a gamer and when I do play, I don’t like to pay. So, I don’t have much experience in this area, but I’m sure there are lots of people who like to participate in this. If you like online games and tournaments, this is another good way to let the points rack up.

• Refer-a-Friend – This is where you can share your good fortune with others. By referring friends into your “network” you can earn when they earn. This is great if you have a lot of friends or if you know others that want to get free stuff too!
